Two idiot-birds sit in a bare tree, watching a frozen lake. They sit close but can't quite see each other. They have just missed, yet again. Now, nothing will be permitted to change or confuse, appear or disappear; they are doomed to sit silently with the consequences of their past actions, moving neither forwards nor backwards. Containment is the best they can now hope for. The only sign of time passing is the waxing and waning of the moon as the little idiot-birds contemplate their newly-solemn status, their broken hearts and the sleight of hand that has enabled the vast, silent space that death occupies to keep itself completely hidden from view until now.
Papier-mache, wire, clay, beads, wood, acrylic, varnish. 7x7 inches, 20 inches tall. 12 inches across at widest point. Moveable boat with removeable mast 2x3 inches.
