snow box

Two birds sit in a

bare tree, watching

a frozen lake.

The only sign of time

passing is the waxing

and waning of the moon,

as the little birds

contemplate their

broken hearts and the

sleight of hand that

has enabled the vast,

silent space that death

occupies to keep itself

completely hidden

from view until now.

clay, beads, wood,

acrylic, varnish.
